Srinagar,24-Feb; Heavy snowfall in Kashmir Valley has caused water-logging in many parts of Srinagar city while in North, Central and South Kashmir lanes, bye-lanes and roads are filled with water causing immense inconvenience to the commuters.Reports said that most of the roads in Civil Lines and Old City are waterlogged. At many places people have to wade through filthy water to cross the roads. Water logging at Jawahar Nagar, Natipora, Rambagh, Residency Road, Maulana Azad Road, Polo View, Hawal, Alamgari Bazar, Nallahmar, Bohri Kadal and Nowhatta obstructed the smooth flow of vehicular movement.People alleged that government has not put dewatering system in use anywhere while faulty drainage system causes water logging after every rain or snowfall in various parts of Srinagar city due to which commuters have to face tremendous in-convenience.The locals told that the inundation of the streets, mohallas and colonies during even small downpour has become a common feature due to absence of proper drainage system in the town.“After a slight rainfall or melting of snow our localities get flooded and the movement becomes difficult,” said Muzafar Ahmed, a resident of old city.He said the water even gets accumulated around their houses. The residents complained that the government has failed to execute a project aimed at providing proper drainage and sewage system in the city.(CNS
