Srinagar ,14-May; An army personnel allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle in Ramban district on Saturday, officials said.The officials said that Ravi Kumar son of Rattan Singh with army’s 12 RR a resident of Rohtak Haryana shot himself dead with his AK-47 service rifle at around 1715 hours at Neel top in Ramban district.They said the soldier was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries.After post-mortem and completion of other formalities, the body was handed over to the unit of the deceased for the last rites, the officials said.It was not immediately known what caused Kumar to take the extreme step, they said, adding police have started inquest proceedings for investigation.(CNS)
