Unscheduled Power Cuts irks Sonawari residents

    Srinagar 11- Nov: The Civil Society Sonawari has said that the unavailability of electricity has taken a serious turn in the entire region. Ghulam-ud-Din Civil Society Convenor Sonawari said that with the setting of the sun, the PDD department has intensified the process of plunging the entire Tehsil into complete darkness, while the PDD department is not sticking to its own schedule regarding cuts. He said that due to non-availability of electricity, ordinary consumers especially traders, industrialists and hawkers have been facing a lot of difficulties.He said, while strong claims and promises are being made to the consumers, in practice no steps have been taken in this regard so far due to which the people here are facing various hardships and difficulties. He said that small manufacturers were lamenting the unavailability of electricity and believed that they could not deliver their goods to the traders on time due to which they were facing financial deficit. Ghulam-ud-Din Lone added that big claims are made every year to increase power generation and build new power projects. He said that it was not the job of the people to repair the transmission lines and it was not the responsibility of the people to replace the broken poles. He said that the officials of the PDD department are moving with tide, while the consumers were being accused of using more electricity than agreed. Lone said that the PDD department is becoming a nightmare for the people here, while the irony is that the power is now cut off for 15 minutes every hour, causing people to suffering from mental disorders.
