Srinagar, Sep 9 : The civic body Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has ranked Chanapora Ward as ‘Number-One’ in cleanliness and sanitation while Hyderpora Ward has been categorized as the ‘poorest’ one. In Ward wise cleanliness ranking, Chanapora Ward (31) has obtained 275 marks out of 300. Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Project Management Unit (PMU) of Srinagar Municipal Corporation had conducted cleanliness survey in 35 wards of Srinagar city. Chanapora ward was declared number one in cleanliness followed by Lal Chowk and Pantha Chowk. Ajaz Ahmed Thokar, Ward Officer Chanpora gives credit to his field staff saying it is a team effort. SMC had created 4 categories ‘Good’, ‘Satisfactory’, ‘Fair’, and ‘Poor’ under which the performance of 15 Wards including Chanapora have fallen in ‘Good’ category. The 10 Wards have been categorized as ‘Satisfactory’ while the performance of 8 Wards have been declared ‘Fair’ and 2 Wards fall in ‘Poor’ category. As per the Project Management Unit (PMU) ranking, Chanapora Ward leads in cleanliness ranking followed by Lal Chowk, Pantha Chowk, Hazratbal, Parimpora HMT, Jawahar Nagar, Baghi Mehtab, Nai Sarak, Madin Sahab, Soura, Zaina Kadal, Khanyar, Nowshera, Islamyarbal, Karan Nagar, Jamalata, Lal Bazar, Qamarwari, Lawaypora, Humhama, Khumani Chowk, Bemina, Hawal, Ahmed Nagar, Kralyar, Zakoora, Safakadal, Batamaloo, Dal, Palapora, Magarmal Bagh, Makhdhoon Sahab, Bota Pora, Nishat and Hyderpora.
