Kupwara,02-Apr; In a further fillip to adventure sports, Zarla Skiing and Adventure Sports Club organized a mountain trekking event for youths of Karnah in collaboration with Shakti Vijay Brigade of Indian Army. More than 150 youths including girls participated in the event combining fun, frolic, adventure and their connect with nature. The trekking trail connected Baghbela – Shamspora and Barwan over a distance of three kilometres. It tested the physical and mental abilities of youths.Senior students of many Senior Secondary Schools participated in trekking. Capt Iliyas Mohd, Bar to Sena Medal (retired), Iftiqar Khwaja, and Aftab Ahmed, both foremost educationists of Karnah played key role in organizing the adventure trip for the youths.The Karnah Valley boasts of numerous undiscovered nature trails where one can often catch a glimpse of the local fauna especially the Himalayan Fox, Himalayan Leopard and the Musk Deer.It is an event in series of such adventure activities being organized under the banner of the adventure sports club mentioned above. An off-roading rally from Srinagar- Anatnag to Tithwal and inauguration of skiing node at Zarla were also organized last month by the club.The club aims at promotion of adventure sports tourism in the exotic valley of Tangdhar with the punch line of Incredible Tangdhar. The club is also planning to start mountain terrain biking shortly here.More such events are planned in future for the children and youths so as to combine adventure sports with education. Religious and cultural tourism will also get a major jump with the construction of historic Sharda Mutt Temple at Tithwal alongwith a Gurudwara and Mosque so as to signify ‘Sarv Dharma Sambhav’, which are likely to be completed by June 2022.(CNS)
