COVID-19 recovery rate in country reaches 74.30 per cent

NEW DELHI: The recovery rate from COVID-19 has improved further and now it has reached 74.30 per cent today. India registered 62 thousand and 282 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

With this, a total of 21 lakh 58 thousand 946 people have recovered in the country so far. The case fatality rate continues to show steady decline and now stands at 1.89 per cent.

The Health Ministry said that 68 thousand 898 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the country in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 29 lakh five thousand 823. Presently, the total number of active cases in the country is six lakh 92 thousand 28. During the last 24 hours, 983 deaths were reported taking the toll to 54 thousand 849.

The Health Ministry has said that testing of samples for COVID-19 in the country has steeply increased to more than 9 lakh tests per day. The Ministry in a tweet said that is bolstered with all States and Union Territories testing more than 140 tests per day per million population as advised by the World Health Organisation.

It said, aggressive testing leads to early identification and isolation of COVID-19 positive cases. The Ministry said, this, coupled with efficient clinical treatment, keeps the Fatality Rate down.

The Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR said that till yesterday, three crore 34 lakh 67 thousand two hundred 37 tests were conducted. Of these, eight lakh five thousand nine hundred 85 tests were conducted yesterday alone. The number of COVID-19 sample testing labs across the country increased to 1504.
