2600 Tablets of ‘Tapal’ (Tapentadol) seized by Drug Control Organisation from Drug Peddler

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 26: Taking cognizance of the specific input, a team of Drug Control Officers seized 2600 tablets of TAPAL -50 and TAPOL -100 with batch no ARC05016A and BRCO7073A manufactured by M/s MSN Labs Pvt Ltd Mekangund Telangana-509228 from the consignee Hilal Ahmed Mir R/o Behrampora Baramulla from the presence of incharge Trackon courier services. The action was taken under the active support of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole by a team of Drug Control Organisation headed by Deputy Drug Controller Kashmir, Shah Nighat comprising of Drug Control Officers of District Srinagar and Budgam Junaid Naseer, Sameer Sajad, Rumeesa Mohammad.The Trackon Courier delivered the said consignment to Hilal Ahmad from whose possession the consignment was immediately seized by the team. The consignment was clearly meant and distributed through the unregulated channels to cause addiction amongst the youth. The Matter is still under investigation and after proper investigation, shall be taken up with the concerned quarters and the suppliers outside the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.It was clearly expressed by Deputy Drugs Controller Kashmir that stringent action shall be taken against the accused persons under the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Rules there under. Active support of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shri Pandurang K Pole has led to successful operation in nabbing the main culprit/accused. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier also a consignment of 715 Strips of Spasmo-proxyvon were seized from the cargo logistic space of the Srinagar International Airport. It has been resolved by the Deputy Drug Controller Kashmir that the drive shall continue to put an end to the menace of misuse of pharmaceutical preparations amongst the youth. Meanwhile, the Deputy Drugs Controller has appealed all the stakeholders for furnishing information about illegal activities of such nature to the authorities, so that the menace of drug addiction which has become a social evil can be eradicated from the society.The UT Drug Controller, Lotika Khajuria, appreciated the relentless efforts of the team of Drug Control officers headed by Deputy Drug Controller Kashmir and said that the efforts of the department for conducting such activities will be instrumental in saving thousands of lives. She said that the problem of drug addiction is a social evil and threatens the future of society.
