4 LeT OGWs arrested in Baramulla

The police on Tuesday arrested four over ground workers (OGW) of Lasker-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit who were accused of being involved in a grenade attack on a sarpanch’s house in Shrakwara Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla on August 22.A police spokesperson said during the interrogation of the arrested persons, it came to fore that that they were working as OGWs for Lashkar-e-Taiba.The accused have been identified as Mohammad Saleem Khan, resident of Shrakwara, Sajad Ahmed Mir and Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Saloosa and Naseer Ahmad Dar, resident of Najibhat Baramulla.The house of Sarpanch Narinder Kour came under a grenade attack at Shrakwara Kreeri in Baramulla earlier this month. It caused damage to the windowpanes of the house and vehicle.Following which, police had registered an FIR under sections of explosive substances act and UA (P) Act 1967 was registered in Police Station Kreeri and investigation set into motion.A spokesman said on the basis of technical analysis, shreds of evidence and CCTV footage it came out that suspects Mohammad Saleem Khan and Sajad Ahmed Mir were involved in the commission of crime who were later arrested.“During the interrogation, both the suspects confessed that they were working on the behest of Pakistan based LeT handler Ali Bhai. Both the accused persons are drug addicts and were in contact with LeT terrorist Hilal Sheikh and Usman (FT) on whose instructions, they obtained grenade from Batmaloo Srinagar,” he said.The police further said two other associates– Bilal Ahmad Sheikh and Naseer Ahmad Dar assisted the accused persons in the commission of the crime and were arrested for the same crime.“Two hand grenades and 100 grams of Charas like substance have been recovered from the accused persons and further investigation is underway in the case,” spokesman said.
