Int’l Women’s Day celebrated across Ramban district

RAMBAN, MARCH 08: To mark the celebrations of International Women’s Day the Government Degree College, Batote today organized a series of activities in the college.Speaking on the occasion the chief guest, Principal of the college, Prof. Nirlape Kour stressed the need to recognise the contributions of women in different facets of life, whether personal or professional. She said that women are the source of indomitable spirit, determination, dedication and inspiration for their families and our nation. She laid emphasis on equality between men and women thus the need to empower women.On the occasion Meenakshi Khajuria, a student of Semester 5th presented the welcome address. Many students and faculty members also presented their views on the occasion.A Painting competition and Slogan writing competition was also organized in which students participated very enthusiastically. In the Painting competition Mehwish Arif, Kajal Attri and Suhani Sharma were adjudged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the Slogan writing competition Charanpreet, Afia Riaz and Nazia Banu stod 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.Meanwhile the Department of Social Welfare Ramban today celebrated the International Women’s day in coordination with Government Degree College Banihal. Mission Shakti, One Stop Centre staff under the banner of Social Welfare Department, organised the programme under the aegis of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav wherein various speakers threw light on the topic.Meantime, the Sheep Husbandry Department also organized a programme on food security for women in the village Nera of Ramban to celebrate the day. Various other departments also organised the programme on the occasion of International Women’s day.
