ANOTHER BREAKTHROUGH WITHIN 24HOURS; 60 BOTTLES OF ILLICIT LIQUOR SEIZED BY KATHUA POLICE; 03 HELD

KATHUA, 28 MAY: Kathua Police once again acting tough against the consumption/production of illicit liquor menace in the district, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. R C Kotwal-JKPS today recovered 60 more bottles of illicit liquor in the district, 03 persons arrested and 02 vehicles were seized in this connection.
On 28-05-2021 Police team of P/S Lakhanpur led by Insp. Sumeet Sharma SHO P/S Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Sukhdev Singh during naka checking duty in its jurisdictional area intercepted one Auto Load Carrier bearing Reg. No. PB06AX-3719. During checking 24 bottles of Black Horn XXX Rum Punjab Excise Whisky (illicit liquor) were recovered from the possession of accused namely Gagandeep Kumar S/o Gorkhi Ram R/O RSD Colony Jugial Tehsil & District Kathua which were stealthily hidden in the straw loaded in the said vehicle. Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor was sezied, accused arrested as well as vehicle seized.In this regard, a case FIR No 73/2021 u/s 50(1) Excise Act has been registered at P/S Lakhanpur and investigation was taken up.

While in another instance Police team of P/S Kathua led by Insp. Vijay Kumar under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua Sh. Shammi Kumar -JKPS today intercepted one vehicle(Eco Van) bearing Registration No. JK02BK-5256 which was directed to stop for checking. On checking, 36 bottles of MC Dowell’s Whisky (illicit liquor) were recovered from the possession of two persons namely Sunil Kumar S/O Bihari Lal R/o New Basti Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and other person namely Ajay Singh S/O Swarn Singh R/o Chakra Kathua.Thus overall 60 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered, 03 persons arrested alongwith 02 vehicles were seized.Accordingly, a case FIR No. 264 /2021 U/S 50 Excise Act, 188/IPC has been registered at Kathua Police Station and further investigation is going on.
