As a part of “Freedom from Corruption Day” celebration across the UT of J&K as directed by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor UT J&K Sh. Manoj Sinha, an awareness program was today organised by the Anti Corruption Bureau, Doda Wing here at DC Office Complex Kishtwar. The purpose of the event was to bring together all stakeholders in spreading the message of integrity in all spheres of life. The Day is observed on 5th August with the theme, “Freedom from Corruption.”The event was graced by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar,Sh Inderjeet Singh Parihar (Departmental Vigilance Officer), while Dy SP (ACB-Doda Wing) Shiv Kumar were also present on the occasion.Among the others present during the event were Inspector ACB Sajjad Haidar,Inspector Dheeraj Nagpal besides all the DDOs, district officer and heads of executing agencies were also present during the event.During the event, insightful awareness regarding the causes,impact and legal intervention on the govt officers involved with the corruption practices were held.The roles and responsibilities of the Anti Corruption Bureau, stakeholders Departments besides the Departmental Vigilance officers (DVOs) were discussed and highlighted thoroughly.Besides the legal measures taken against the public servants involved in corruption practices were also presented through power point presentation by the Inspector ACB Dheeraj Nagpal. He apprised the participants through PPT about the functioning of the Anti-Corruption Bureau , measures to weed out corruption from society,criminal misconduct,Satark Nagrik App etc. DySP (ACB-Doda Wing) in his address threw light on scores of measures being taken by the government to put an end to corruption, including switch over to e- Governance, disbursement of welfare benefits of various schemes of the Government in a transparent manner through the DBT initiative, implementation of E-tendering in public procurement, simplification of procedure and systems etc were discussed.He further said that Day is celebrated to increase public awareness about the perils of corruption and also to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of bribery and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by the corruption.He also said the focus areas of the programme is to spread greater awareness to encourage complaints under Public Interest Disclosure and protection of Informers and conduct a unique clearance campaign to clear all outstanding vigilance matters.He also said that Corruption was a bottleneck in the way of development and the need of the hour was to make collective efforts to end it.Underlining the need for strict adherence to the rules and regulations of the vigilance department, he directed the concerned officers to sensitize the employees and public about the ill effects of corruption through workshops and mass campaigns.In his address, the ADC/Departmental Vigilance Officer also appreciated the Anti Corruption Bureau for working tirelessly to prevent and investigate corruption-related matters and bringing culprits to Justice and urged them to keep working with the same zeal to put an end to corruption.He also termed awareness and public participation necessary for a more effective fight against corruption and appealed to the Officers to coordinate with the Government to stop corruption.He also said that zero tolerance against corruption on the ground has brought transparency in Governance and it is being ensured that the benefits of good governance reach the last person in the queue without any discrimination.
