JAMMU, JULY 20: To shift the age old system of collecting stamp duty in Jammu and Kashmir, the Registration Department under the dynamic leadership of Inspector General of Registration, Dr Pawan Kotwal, is fully braced to roll out the electronic stamping system along with computerized Registration system through National Generic Document Registration System in the Union Territory.
To acquaint the registrars and Sub Registrars of Jammu Division in the handling of new system of stamp duty collection, the registration Department conducted one Day training in collaboration with the Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), here at Excise and Taxation Complex Jammu.
To maintain social distancing due to Covid-19, the training was conducted in two sessions.
The second session was presided over by the Inspector General of Registration and FCR J&K, Dr Pawan Kotwal.
The J&K Branch head of SHCIL, Harmandeep Singh imparted the training with technical dexterity.
The IGR, while appreciating the training session, enjoined upon all the registration officers to learn the things keenly, so that they can handle the e-stamping system with professional acumen. The e-stamping is quite easy and cost effective but crucial to handle, said Dr Kotwal.
The Additional Inspector General of Registration, Jammu, Rishpal Singh, coordinated the training session.
While interacting with the Sub Registrars of all districts, he instructed them to conduct the similar training programme in their respective districts to acquaint the other Sub Registrars with the e-stamping module.
With the introduction of e-stamping in the Union Territory, it would be smooth and transparent with maximum authenticity.
The people can get the stamp duties deposited through Authorized Collection Centers like scheduled and Cooperative Banks and licensed Stamp vendors. The Stock Holding Corporation of India shall be responsible for implementation and maintenance of records for e-stamping. The stamp duty can be paid in cash, cheque, demand draft, pay order, or national electronic funds transfer and the stamp certificate will be released only after SHCIL receives the money.
According to an SHCIL, once the e-stamp is generated, anyone can verify the details by logging in and entering details like UIN, stamp duty type or session code and verify with E stamp app.
The training session was ably managed by Nodal Officer e-stamping Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, (Tehsildar Headquarter with IGR).
