JAMMU, DECEMBER 11: A day-long industrial exposure visit for the Final year B.Sc Agriculture students of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu was organised to acquaint them with walnut processing operations. The exposure visit was organised under the Chairmanship of Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. J. P. Sharma, by Institute Industry Interaction Cell (IIIC) of SKUAST-J created under NAHEP-IDP World Bank funded project. The students were taken for a visit to VKC Nuts (P) Ltd, Bari Brahmana by Dr. Anil Bhat, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of IIIC for Faculty of Agriculture. The visit was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Sanjay Guleria, Nodal Officer, IIIC.The objective of the visit was to take students beyond the boundaries of theory-based teaching to the on-site industry-based practical demonstration of different operations viz: production, processing, preservation, de-shelling, branding, quality check and more.SKUAST-Jammu thanked Managing Director VKC Nuts, Gagan Jain for cooperation extended at the processing unit.Speaking about the importance of the visit, Dr B. C. Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Principal Investigator of the project said that exposing the students to the different operations of agro-industries shall go a long way in inculcating the entrepreneurial mindset in the budding professionals and SKUAST-Jammu under the dynamic leadership of Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor is committed to the same.
