Handwara, Aug 6 (GNS): At least four sheep and goats were mauled to death by a black bear last night in Moshinar village of Kralgund in north-Kashmir’s Kupwara district, reports said on Friday. Reports reaching GNS said that the bear entered cowshed belonging to one Mohammed Yaseen Khan son of Mohammed Bullah Khan at Moshinar overnight. The beast before being chased away mauled at least four sheep and goats. When contacted a Wildlife Department official told GNS that there is dearth of manpower and equipments to deal with such situations. When asked about the spike in the incidents, the official said that “wild animals are making entry to human habitation apparently due to scarcity of food and growing deforestation in and around the area.” (GNS)
