September 18: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Budgam have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Check Kawoosa, intercepted a vehicle (Alto 800) bearing registration number JK04E-5969 with one person on board, identified as Abdul Majeed Akhoon resident of Manhama Magam. During search 2016 tablets of banned drugs were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
A case FIR No. 138/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Magam and investigation has been initiated. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
