Kulgam Police arrests 03 bootleggers; recovers 112 bottles of illicit liquor

September 17: Police in its recent action against bootlegging have arrested three bootleggers in Kulgam and recovered 112 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.

During intervening night of 16/17 September, acting on a tip off, officers at a checkpoint established near Dalwach Qazigund intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number JK02AM-2865 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Ramesh Chand son of Sitaram resident of Garan Baba Jitty Reasi, Sandeep Kumar son of Mulkraj resident of Sunaiter Udhampur and Shadi Lal son of Sagar Chand resident of Sehmari Reasi. During search, officers were able to recover 112 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Qazigund where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 261/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Qazigund and further investigation has been initiated.
