In a solemn ceremony, district police Kulgan observed commemoration day in DPL Kulgam and paid homage to martyrs.
To remember the brave policemen who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties, to pay honor and respect to the martyrs and commemorate their sacrifices, police commemoration parade was conducted and rich tributes were paid to the departed souls who sacrificed their precious lives in the service of community and for safeguarding integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
DM Kulgam Sh Showkat Aejaz Bhat (Chief guest), SP Kulgam along with other officers of police, RR and CAPFs of district Kulgam paid their homage by placing floral wreaths at the Martyrs Monument in DPL Kulgam.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Kulgam after mentioning all the names of martyred police personnels, applauded their memorable role. He further said that today we salute our martyrs for their determination, courage and spirit of sacrifice and renew our pledge that we will never allow any harm to the community or the nation.
During interaction with next of kin of martyrs, DM and SP Kulgam heard their grievances, consoled and assured them that district administration and JKP stands by the family and will extend all possible help and support to the families as and when required.
Later officers present distributed blankets among the families of martyrs.
