PHE workers protest for redressal of their demands

Srinagar, 30-Aug; Hundreds of daily wagers of the Jal Shakti department on Tuesday staged a protest in Srinagar here to press for their long-pending demands, including regularisation.The protesting daily wagers from different districts of Kashmir assembled at Press colony under the banner of  ‘PHE Employees United Front”  demanding release of pending wages. Over 60,000 daily wagers, casual labourers and other workers are working in various departments over the past two decades and are regularly holding protests in both Jammu and Srinagar for regularisation of their jobs, minimum wages and release of pending wages.PHEEUF chairman Sajjad parray said that the protesting daily wagers which include PHE land owners and ITI workers said that other than wages their demands of formulating a proper regularization policy is also pending .“Even the Minimum Wages Act in J&K UT was not implemented and pending wages of the workers were also not released,” he said

While demanding that their genuine and justified demands be addressed without any delay. They warned to intensify their agitation if the UT Administration failed to address their pending issues. (
