Drug peddler held in Srinagar
July 22: Continuing its drive to eradicate drug menace from the society, Police in Anantnag have arrested a lady drug dealer and recovered heroin from her possession. Besides, a drug peddler was arrested by Srinagar police.
On specific information about drug dealings, SDPO Kokernag along with SHO Larnoo raided a residential house at Larnoo area of District Anantnag. During the raid, 500 grams of heroin like substance from a lady drug dealer (name with held) was recovered. She has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where she remains in custody.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the consignment had arrived from Mir Bazar through another drug dealer and the deal was being done in the house of arrested drug dealer.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 49/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Larnoo and further investigation has been initiated.
In Srinagar, officers from Police Post Bemina have arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Javid Ahmad Khan resident of Housing Colony Bemina. On checking, officers have recovered charas from his possession. He has been shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. In this connection, a case FIR No. 145/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Parimpora and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
