A preparatory meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Commissioner/Secretary, Health & Medical Education, UT Ladakh

Leh, Nov 21: A preparatory meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Commissioner/Secretary, Health & Medical Education, UT Ladakh, Rigzian Sampheal, to review the status of procurement/purchase of Medical Equipment/Machinery approved under the Special Development Package and UT Budget 2020-21.

At the outset, Director Health gave detailed information regarding the status of procurement/purchases in Kargil District. The Director Health Service also informed the chair that most of the Machinery/Equipment approved for Health Department Ladakh under different schemes has either been received or order has been placed with the supplying agencies. It was also informed that an amount of Rs.23.59 Crores has been sanctioned for purchase of Machinery/Equipment and Rs. 50.00 Crores for purchase of Machinery & Equipment for 300 Bedded Hospital at Kargil under SDP 2020- 21 and this was the single highest allocation ever for procurement of Machinery and Equipment in the Health Department. The huge amount sanctioned for purchase of vital equipment in the Hospitals across the UT will completely transform the health scenario in the UT Ladakh.

The Commissioner/Secretary acknowledged the significant progress of procurement in District Hospital Kargil and appreciated the efforts in achieving the targets in the testing time of COVID 19. He further directed the officers of the Health Department to ensure 100% procurement of the approved machinery/equipment before the closure of roads for winters.

The meeting was attended by Director Health Services, UT Ladakh, Chief Medical Officer, Leh and Medical Superintendent, SNM Hospital, Leh. While Chief Medical Officer, Kargil and Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Kargil attended the meeting through video conference.
