Maharashtra recorded 55,469 cases on Tuesday, a day after recording 47,288 new cases. The state witnessed a rise of 8,181 cases on Tuesday. Maharashtra reported 297 fatalities in the last 24 hours which took the death toll to 56,330. Maharashtra on Sunday recorded 57,074 cases, highest since the onset of the pandemic. The spike in the number of cases came in the backdrop of 201,692 tests conducted in the last 24 hours – a rise of 26,009 tests. The state had conducted 175,683 tests between April 4 to April 5.
