NT earns Rs 45 lac salary for 11 year has property worth crores, arrested by ACB

Srinagar :A Naib Tehsildar (NT) who earned Rs 45 lakh salary for 11 years and had acquired property worth crores of rupees has been arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday in uptown Srinagar.
A ACB spokesman said that Abdul Rashid Malla, NT, Rawalpora, Srinagar was arrested in disproportionate assets case.
Giving details he said ACB had registered a case FIR 23/2020 u/s 5(10 (e) r/w 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt. 2006 in Police
Station (PS) ACB Srinagar on 17-11-2020 against Malla for acquiring huge assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
He said the case was registered on the basis of a verification conducted by ACB Srinagar into the allegations that Malla  is in possession of huge assets in the shape of Shopping complex and palatial house. During investigation it was further established that the Malla has received a salary of around Rs 45,00,000 with effect from year 2008 up to 2019. However, the properties acquired by Malla during this period are worth crores of rupees which is totally disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The omissions and commissions on behalf of the suspect invokes the provisions of section 5(1) (e) of J&K PC Act Svt, 2006.
Subsequently, after registration of the instant case search warrants got from the competent court and searches conducted on18-11-2020 as various places in district Budgam and Srinagar simultaneously during which important documents were seized by the search.
 After collection of evidence it has been found that the accused Malla committed the offence u/s 5(1) (e) r/w 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt. 2006. During investigation it has been found that the accused has acquired properties at different places in District Srinagar and Budgam for which the arrest of accused was mandatory so that the alleged accused could not temper the evidence.
He said on December 4, 2020, the accused has been accordingly arrested and he shall be produced before the Court as per procedure.
Further investigation in the instant case is going on, spokesman added.
