JAMMU: Press Information Bureau (PIB) Jammu, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Government of India organised a webinar on ‘Vocal for Local’ to give wide dissemination to the campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to boost domestic manufacturing and production.
Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, Press Information Bureau and Regional Outreach Bureau in her address threw light on the “Vocal for Local” campaign by the Government of India for boosting local economy and business sector.
She said that PIB and ROB Jammu in coordination with nodal departments are disseminating the government programmes to people at grassroots levels.
She further added that being vocal about the local products will give a push to local entrepreneurs and the domestic economy of J&K while quoting the examples like Basholi paintings, Kishtwar Kesar etc.
Anoo Malhotra, Director, Industries and Commerce said that promotion of local products is the need of the hour as it will develop self confidence amongst local entrepreneurs. She further added that production and use of local products will reduce dependence on imports and build a self-reliant India, while emphasizing the successful transition of handicrafts and handloom products of J&K from local to global.
Mussarat-ul-Islam, Director, Department of Handlooms and Handicrafts, Kashmir Division, SP Khandelwal, Director KVIC Jammu and Kashmir and Lalit Gupta, Professor, University of Jammu also expressed their views.
The webinar was attended by various Government officials, academicians and university students.
The academician and students shared their opinions during the interactive session held.
The webinar was moderated by Abhishek Kumar, Assistant Director, PIB Jammu, Ministry of Information an Broadcasting.
