Rath Yatra organised to celebrate World Malaria Day

JAMMU, APRIL 25: On the occasion of World Malaria Day on 25th April, 2023 a Rath Yatra was flagged off by the Deputy Director Health Services (HQ), Jammu, Dr. Rajeev Sharma.The Rath Yatra was organized by the Office of the State Malariologist, J&K, Jammu. The Theme for this year’s WMD is “TIME TO DELIVER ZERO MALARIA: INVEST, INNOVATE, IMPLEMENT”.The aim of the Rath Yatra is to impart awareness regarding prevention, control and elimination of Malaria from the Union Territory.During flagging off ceremony of Malaria Rath Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Dy. Director Health Services, Jammu addresses the august gathering and highlighted the achievements made by the Union Territory in control of malaria, decreasing trends of malaria especially Plasmodium Falciparum cases.Dr. Harjeet Rai, State Programme Officer, J&K also informed about the preparedness activities for the control of malaria and stressed that with coordinated efforts from all stake holders, shall pave the way towards elimination of malaria with newer tools and windows of opportunities.The Rath Yatra (vehicle fitted with a loud speaker) started from Directorate of Health Services, Near MLA hostel, Jammu and covered Jammu urban areas.IEC material like leaflets was disseminated by the staff members among school students and general masses along the way.On the occasion Dr. Sanjay Turki, Dy. Director Health Services (Scheme), Jammu, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dy. Director, Dentistry, DHS, Jammu, Dr. Harbaksh Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu, Dr. Poonam Mahajan, State Tuberculosis Officer, Jammu, Dr. Jyoti Jolly, Divisional Nutrition, Jammu Officer along with other Officers and Officials were present on the occasion.
