Socio-Political activist aghast over snails work on Ajas Bridge, Gives 48-hour ultimatum to R&B

Bandipora, 09-Sep: The work on new Ajas Bridge on Bandipora-Srinagar highway in North Kashmir sees very slow progress, causing immense sufferings to local residents, pedestrians as well as commuters.Senior socio-political activist Zahoor Ahmad, of Bandipora district on Thursday took a dig on R&B Department Bandipora over non attention towards the work at Ajas Bridge.‘’The work is going on at snail’s pace, the contractor comes at his will and work on parts’’, he said While speaking , Zahoor Ahmad said that the diversion made at Ajas is not capable of bearing the vehicle load. The RCC pipes remain closed due to which the adjoining area residents are in a state of anxiety as the water level in Nallah rises sudden due to incessant rains, which can prove dangerous to the residents and the passing vehicles as well.He briefly discussed the pros and cons of the Snail’s pace of the Bridge and said that either the Contractor should be asked to speed up the work or the said work should be allotted to another contractor.“People of the area are up in arms against the incompletion of project, if work will not be resumed within two days, locals will be forced to hold protest on roads”, he added He further appealed Commissioner Secretary R&B Department, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Executive Engineer R&B Division Bandipora to personally intervene in the matter and order the Contractor to Speed up the work or allot the work to another Contractor for larger benefits.(CNS)
