KATHUA, 04 AUGUST 2026:* In view of forthcoming *Independence Day 2026 celebrations, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma, IPS* today chaired Security Review Meeting at Conference Hall, District Police Lines Kathua, to review and strengthen security arrangements for the ongoing annual pilgrimage and upcoming Independence Day 2026 preparedness.The meeting was attended by representatives from 401 Bgd Basohli Morh, 84 Bgd. Rampur Billawar, 168 Inf. Bgd Samba, CO IRP 19th Bn, CO 158 TA Janglote, CO 107 Bn BSF, CO 82 Bn BSF, CO 121 Bn. CRPF, CO Adhoc. 159 Bn BSF, Addl. SP Kathua, SP Ops. Kathua, SP Ops Upper Kathua (virtually), Dy. Commandant BSF (G) Branch Samba, DCIO IB Kathua, Dy. Field Officer Spl. Bureau GOI, DySP CID CI/SB Kathua, all Supervisory Officers alongwith SHOs of Upper Kathua (virtually) and lower Kathua (physically).The meeting focused on ensuring seamless coordination among all stakeholders for the safe and peaceful conduct of the upcoming National Event.During the meeting, *SSP Kathua* emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and directed all concerned agencies to intensify patrolling, conduct surprise naka checks, and ensure strategic deployment of *Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs)* for prompt response to any contingency. Detailed discussions were also held regarding *law and order management, traffic regulation, crowd management, security of vital installations, highway domination, area domination around the venue of Independence Day 2026, Hotel checking, Tenant/Outsider labourer verifications, Border security grid, emergency response mechanisms, and inter-agency coordination*.Special emphasis was laid on *technology-driven security measures*, including enhanced CCTV surveillance, real-time monitoring through integrated control rooms, and strengthening communication networks to facilitate swift information sharing and response.SSP Kathua underscored the importance of *community participation and public cooperation* in maintaining a secure environment during the Yatra as well as the upcoming National Event. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police unit or control room.Representatives of intelligence agencies also shared recent security inputs and assessments. It was resolved that timely dissemination of intelligence, regular joint coordination drills, and close monitoring of vulnerable locations would remain key priorities throughout the Yatra period.Concluding the meeting, *SSP Kathua* reiterated that ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims and residents remains the highest priority. She emphasized that proactive policing, robust inter-agency coordination, and active public cooperation will play a vital role in maintaining peace, security, and stability across _Kathua district_ during *SANJY-2026* as well as the forthcoming *Independence Day 2026 Celebrations*.
