Training cum orientation prog on “Technological interventions for Fish Seed and Trout Production” held at Kulgam

Kulgam, February 08: A daylong District level Orientation cum Training Programme on “Technological interventions for Fish Seed and Trout Production” was today organized by Fisheries Department in collaboration with Krishi Vighyan kendra (KVK) Kulgam under the umbrella of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).The Programme was conducted at KVK Kulgam in which technical functionaries of Fisheries Department were imparted training regarding the new technological interventions in the field of aquaculture.The scientists of KVK Kulgam and other Technical staff also interacted with the trainees.Assistant Director Fisheries Kulgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah highlighted the importance of the approved project for harnessing the aqua-potential of the District and its successful implementation will boost the fish production in a sustainable manner.He said that the Trout fish farming in the District has made considerable progress during last two years and has been recognized as an important employment generation activity and a roadmap has been prepared for implementation of the project on ground to achieve desirable targets which will double the fish production, double the income of fish farmers and the economic growth and development.Shabir Ahmad Wani, Resource Person on the occasion detailed the partcipants about various components of the project including new intervention of Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) and Biofloc fish farming practices.Speaking on the occasion Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Ganai, District Head KVK Kulgam, underlined the utility of the project for sustainable development of Fisheries sector in the District.He stressed upon the partcipants to create awareness among the masses and reach out to unemployed youth for adopting new and innovative technologies in the field of Fisheries and aquaculture to become successful enterprenuers and job providers.
