Yasha Mudgal visits Tangmarg area of Baramulla district in order to take stock of the construction of ‘Kissan Ghar’ being constructed under the centrally sponsored Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY). She was accompanied by Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K Shafqat Iqbal and other senior functionaries of the department. During her visit to Tangmarg area of Baramulla Secretary to Government, Cooperatives Department Yasha Mudgal today informed that various initiatives are being taken to strengthen cooperative societies adding that such a move will explore more and more livelihood opportunities. She added that there is a dire need to harness the immense potential of Self Help Groups (SHGs) towards welfare centric activities as these groups can ameliorate the socio-economic conditions at the local level. Highlighting the role of various stakeholders, the Secretary also added that cooperatives has a lot of scope and it can directly impact the lives of the people by providing employment opportunties. She said that agricultural loans on soft terms are being extended to our farmers by the commercial cooperative banks and urged upon the people to come forward and reap the benefits of various welfare programmes sponsored by the department. Meanwhile, the Secretary was also informed by the Registrar that the project is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 110.18 lakhs. He added that the project was conceptualized for organizing Awareness Camps, Seminars, Training Programmes, Conferences and other related activities which aimed at dissemination of latest techniques / technology in all fields of primary sector including agriculture, horticulture and their allied sectors.
