Pattan Murder Case: Police Presents Challan against Accused Duo

Baramulla , July19: Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Baramulla Police on Monday has produced a challan against two Accused persons including a woman in a murder case of a 35-year-old man of Rengi Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.According to CNS Baramulla, Special investigation Team (SIT) of Baramulla Police on Monday has produced challan of more than one hundred thirty pages before District Mobile Magistrate Baramulla against two accused persons including wife of deceased Tasleema Begum and her accomplice paramour namely Ghulam Mohammad Dar, residents of Rengi Pattan for the murder of Muhammad Altaf Malik.Sources further told that after receiving written complaint from family members of deceased Mohammad Altaf Malik, SSP Baramullla Rayees Mohammad Bhat (IPS) constituted Special Investigation team (SIT) of senior police officers headed by SDPO Zafar Mehdi, SHO Pattan Insp. Nisar and ASI Mohammad Amin to Investigate the case with FIR No 63/2021 U/s 302,120-B IPC registered at Police Station Pattan.According to CNS in March 2021 SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat said that on March 22, 2021 the deceased person Muhammad Altaf Malik’s brother filed a written application that he suspected that his brother had not died accidentally or of natural death but had been allegedly murdered.

Malik’s body had been spotted near his cowshed at Renji, Pattan on March 9.”The body was exhumed and autopsy conducted at Government Medical College Baramulla. The autopsy revealed that the death was not natural” police sources added.Following the autopsy report a murder case was registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Pattan.During the course of investigation, in sustained questioning wife of the deceased and her paramour confessed of murdering Muhammad Altaf Malik.Meanwhile SIT completed the investigation of the case within eighty six (86) days during which the statement of near about Fifty one witnesses have been recorded and on Monday that is 19 July 2021 the Challan was presented against the both accused persons and they are in Judicial Custody
