Udhampur Police recovers all five bodies of missing family who met with accident

After hectic efforts, police recovered all five bodies of a family who went missing on July 20 when a car they were travelling in met with an accident and fell into Kaghote Nallah in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police spokesman here said that based on the complaint of one namely Bhagat Ram of Janderari, Ramnagar that his son namely Mohan Lal, along with wife and three children, were missing since July 20 while they were travelling in their car from Langa, Ramnagar to Udhampur.

A missing report was lodged and subsequently, a case was registered and search initiated, said the spokesman.

He said that on the same day, Police Team of Police Station Ramnagar, headed by Garu Ram, SDPO Ramnagar and SI Jaswinder Singh, SHO PS Ramnagar,recovered the dead body of one of the family members identified as Mohan Lal from the Kaghote Nallah at Ramnagar.

“However, the search of the remaining four members of the family including his wife and three children continued who were feared to have been washed away in the Nallah,” said the spokesman, adding that the SDRF team had also been called for the search.

More than two days after the family went missing in Ramnagar, July 23, their car that had plunged into the Nallah was found with the body of his daughter identified as Pooja (8), he said adding that the body of his son identified as Naksh (4) was also found.

Police team along with SDRF team recovered two more dead bodies who were missing, he said and added, “the bodies have been recovered after four days search operation by Police Team and SDRF team on Sunday morning one from Kishanpur Manwal and another from Doha area of Jhajjar Kotli, about 50-55 kms away from the spot.”

The recovered bodies were identified as Rekha Devi (wife) and Mahesh. The sustained efforts and industriousness of Udhampur Police in the search for the missing persons led to all the five bodies being found, he added.
