VC Jammu University, former MLC, various public delegations call on Lt Governor

Jammu, November 13: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today met Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, former MLC, public delegations including SOS International and Jammu Muslim Front here at Raj Bhavan.
Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu briefed the Lt Governor about various teaching programmes and research activities going on in the University, besides various issues of academic and administrative importance.
The Lt Governor asked the VC to put special focus on capacity building, skill development, job-oriented courses for the students to meet the modern-day requirements.
Take all the requisite measures for strengthening the academic and research environment, besides adopting innovative and reformative measures to improve the quality of education ecosystem in the University, he added.
He also underlined the importance of promoting excellence in teaching, research and extension activities on varied subjects with special focus on most recent advancements to develop the University as a centre of quality teaching and research activities.
Meanwhile, Sh. Girdhari Lal Raina, former MLC called on the Lt Governor and projected various welfare issues of Kashmiri Pandit community related to speedy implementation of employment package, transit accommodation for employees etc.
A delegation of SOS International, an organization for PoJK displaced Persons, led by Rajiv Chuni met the Lt Governor and apprised him about issues and problems faced by the PoJK displaced persons.
The delegation discussed various issues including implementation of all Central Government Schemes in the camps of PoJK DPs across the UT, constitution of PoJK development Board etc.
Similarly, a delegation of Jammu Muslim Front headed by Shuja Zaffar apprised the Lt Governor of their concerning issues pertaining to reservation in educational institutions, employment driven courses, encouraging local entrepreneurs etc.
The Lt Governor, while interacting with the former Legislator and members of the delegations, observed that the J&K Government is taking various people-centric initiatives for the welfare of every section of the society aiming at the holistic and equitable development of the UT. Concerted efforts are being made to meet the developmental aspirations of the people, he added.
He also assured them that all the genuine concerns and demands put forth by them would be looked into meticulously for their redressal.
