KISHTWAR, FEBRUARY 08: The valedictory function of Seven Day long Winter Camp was today held here by NSS Unit of Government Degree College Kishtwar marking the successful culmination of the week long endeavour.The College Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar was the Chief Guest and Dr. Joneed Iqbal (Medical Officer, AYUSH Dept) was Guest of Honour on the occasion.The function started with a welcome address by NSS Programme Officer, Prof.Sonika Sen, who welcomed all the guests and presented a detailed report of the seven day Winter Camp which was held from 2nd February to 8th February 2023.She said that despite bone chilling weather conditions, more than 56 volunteers participated in the weeklong activities with great enthusiasm and zeal.Enunciating the activities, the Programme Officer said that the event witnessed Poster-making competition on Drug Abuse, cleanliness drive along with fencing of trees, a lecture by Dr. Joneed Iqbalom disadvantages of junk food and health related issues and means to prevent them.On the 4th day of the camp, students participated in ‘Best Out of Waste’ activity wherein they collected waste material like plastic bottles, old bangles, newspaper, cardboard, copper wires, paper cups, wooden ice-cream sticks from their household and displayed their creative skills. They made products like beautiful wall hangings, decorative pieces, dustbins, small almirah, pen-holders etc. On the fifth day volunteers participated in a quiz competition on ‘Know Your Country-India’.
